| NOW GO GET ONE! |
Hovercrafts are pretty versatile vehicles. They can do all sorts of things, and as I recently found out, they can even be
used in a financial service related advertisement.
Earlier this year I was contacted by a local Advertising agency. This agency develops web sites, most of them for local
Banks and Credit Unions. They also maintain these sites and update them with current news & events items. This keeps these
sites interesting and people are encouraged to come back for another visit.
This media design agency was approached by IC-Federal Credit Union, initially for the redesign of their current web site,
but also to create other related sites and to help with promotions of new product line. They asked for help with new promotional
material for newspaper ads, radio and TV commercials.
An initial proposal idea involved getting a picture of His-and-Her monster trucks, with the basic concept of letting people
know that they can get almost anything with help of a home equity loan, "...or something more...over the top." Naturally,
hovercrafting came to mind! After the idea was pitched in one of the high level executive meetings, my racing hovercraft
was utilized in one of their news paper media campaigns.
The following weekend I meet up with a photographer. The location of the shoot was right behind a police station in an
empty school yard. The chief of police was called to let him know what was going on first. The weather was still cold and
all the snow had just melted. The grass in the background of the final shot was made green with the help of some computer
magic.
The ad was approved, and a week later I found a hover picture of me on the backside of the header page, inside the local
Sentinel. This ad was printed twice a week in the local papers and everyone who has an account with this Credit Union gets
to see me and the hover on a beautiful colored flyer that comes with their next monthly check statements.
I have done some modeling in my career before, but never in conjunction with the hover. I think it's nice to know that
there are many other opportunities out there to get hovercrafts involved within the local community. I like to hope that ideas
like this one will take off and help boost an even greater interest in our BIG sport.
